Mabrian has studied and analysed a total of 38,933 tourists from the United States who visited Spain from June to August of this year, with the study specifically looking at those who visited destinations of Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Seville, Mallorca, and Tenerife to find out more information as well as get to know the preferences of these travellers.

According to the most recent study published by Mabrian, around half of the American tourists who visited Spain this summer came mainly from ten cities.

The highest number of arrivals was registered from New York (14 per cent), Miami (nine per cent), and Los Angeles (six per cent), followed by San Francisco, Washington, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Orlando, and Dallas, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

“In these cities, demand was concentrated in three or four specific neighborhoods. Regarding their profile, half of these visitors were over 35 years old, had an average salary of more than 75,000 dollars and had completed university studies,” the statement of Mabrian reads.

Regarding the length of their trip, data from Mabrian has shown that most tourists from the US who visited urban destinations stayed between two and three days. On the other hand, those who visited Spanish islands stayed for a longer period. In general, those who visited Menorca or Tenerife stayed between four and seven days.

When asked if they stayed in the same destination or explored other places too, around 30 per cent of tourists from the US said that they moved to more than one destination while in Spain.

In addition to the above-mentioned, the same source has revealed that while in Spain, American tourists were most interested in tourist experiences related to gastronomy, shopping, and outdoor activities, among others.

Lastly, Mabrian pointed out that the aspects that most add value to tourists from the US in Spain are the perception of security, climate, and their satisfaction with hotel properties.

“While those that detract from their experience, and that have room for improvement, were services related to tourism product satisfaction, such as art and culture, nature, family activities, shopping and well-being, mainly,” Mabrian added.

Previously, SchengenVisaInfo.com reported that Spain received almost 8.5 million passengers from international airports in September 2022, representing 87.6 per cent of those who arrived in the same month in 2019.

The Spanish Ministry of Tourism said that arrivals from the majority of countries increased and, at the same time, revealed that the most significant increase was registered in arrivals from Denmark and Portugal. Arrivals from Denmark increased by 8.9 per cent, and those from Portugal increased by 3.4 per cent in September 2022.
