Korea – COVID-19 PCR test requirement & short-term visit Visa restriction strengthens – TravelDailyNews Asia

From January 2 to late-February, all visitors entering from China must be tested for COVID-19 before departure.

Korea government has strengthened protective measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 coming in from China. With exceptions to government officials, important business purposes, and urgent humanitarian reasons, all short-term visit visas will be restricted until late-January 2023. The expansion of flights will be on hold until further notice and all incoming flights from China will land at Incheon International Airport.

From January 2 to late-February, all visitors entering from China must be tested for COVID-19 before departure. Visitors require a negative result from either a COVID-19 PCR Test taken within 48 hours of departure or a COVID-19 rapid antigen test (RAT) taken within 24 hours of departure. Visitors are also required to take a COVID-19 PCR Test within one day of entrance. The above requirements apply to anyone who has stayed in or visited China in the past 7 days before coming to Korea. Short-term visitors from China must immediately take a PCR test upon arrival and wait for the result at a separate space. Returning South Korean citizens and long-term stay visitors entering from China must take the test within one day of entry and wait for the result at their residence.

The quarantine process for travellers from China who tested positive has also strengthened. In case of positive results, short-term visitors will be administered by temporary housing facilities located in different cities and provinces, while those who tested positive upon airport entry will be administered at temporary quarantine facilities.

Visitors coming in from Hong Kong or Macau must also submit their negative COVID-19 PCR Test or RAT via Q-code website before boarding their flight starting January 7, 2023.
