Furama Hotels International Debuts in Australia with Furama Darling Harbour in Sydney

Furama Hotels International (FHI) unveils Furama Darling Harbour in Sydney, marking its Australian debut with 370 contemporary rooms, strategic location benefits, and enhanced amenities.

Sydney – Furama Hotels International (FHI) announced the grand unveiling of Furama Darling Harbour, formerly known as Holiday Inn Darling Harbour.

This marks an exciting chapter of expansion for the Singapore-based hospitality group in Australia. FHI manages more than 40 hotels, villas and resorts, availing over 7500 rooms in the Asia Pacific region.

The hotel is strategically located in the Haymarket area which is expected to benefit from the
$44 million revitalisation plans as well as the creation of the $3 billion Tech Central Innovation hub announced by the New South Wales government.

Furama Darling Harbour redefines the traditional hotel stay with 370 contemporary guestrooms and suites, each meticulously designed to cater to both business and leisure travelers. The hotel integrates modern amenities with a distinct sense of place, celebrating the rich heritage and vibrant spirit of Sydney.

As part of the rebranding exercise, the hotel will also undergo a series of upgrades such as the rejuvenation of our lobby and restaurant spaces, introduction of technology improvements with mobile check-in/out, mobile tv casting and digital key access.

Guests will enjoy multi-functional spaces where they can self-check-in, relax in communal areas, and stay connected. Shipley’s Restaurant offers an all-day dining experience, featuring a delightful breakfast menu that caters to a variety of tastes, ensuring a satisfying start to the day for every guest.

Furama Darling Harbour is more than just a place to stay; it is set to become a new landmark in Sydney’s hospitality scene. The hotel invites guests to embark on a journey of cultural exchange and collaboration, experiencing the unique blend of Sydney’s heritage and modern vibrancy.

Andrew J Wood was born in Yorkshire England, he is a former hotelier, Skalleague and travel writer. Andrew has 48 years of hospitality and travel experience. Educated at Batley Grammar School and a hotel graduate of Napier University, Edinburgh. Andrew started his career in London, working with various hotels. His first posting overseas was with Hilton International, in Paris, and he later arrived in Asia in 1991 on Bangkok with his appointment as Director of Marketing at the Shangri-La Hotel and has remained in Thailand ever since. Andrew has also worked with the Royal Garden Resort Group now Anantara (Vice President) and the Landmark Group of Hotels (Vice President of Sales and Marketing). Latterly he has been the General Manager at the Royal Cliff Group of Hotels in Pattaya and the Chaophya Park Hotel Bangkok & Resorts.

A past board member and Director of Skål International (SI), a former National President with SI Thailand and a two time past President of the Bangkok Club. Andrew is the former President of Skål Asia. In 2019, Andrew was awarded SKÅL’s highest award the distinction of Membre D’Honneur.

He is a regular guest lecturer at various Universities in Asia.
