Over 70 events will be held across the country on Saturday to mark the “UAE Codes Day

Dubai: Over 70 events will be held across the country on Saturday to mark the “UAE Codes Day,” it was announced on Friday.

The initiative is held under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as per the announcement to celebrate coding and coders on October 29 of every year.

The events will be organised by 50 government and private entities across the UAE.

The “UAE Codes Day” was launched last year on October 29, the same day Sheikh Mohammed launched the first e-government in the region two decades ago, on October 29, 2001 to highlight talents and expertise in digital systems, celebrating their achievements in the areas of digitisation, and achieving the objectives of the UAE digital economy strategy.

The “UAE Codes” Day will include meetings, workshops, competitions, hackathons, and events. This occasion is an opportunity for all societies, institutions, governments, and private entities to activate coding initiatives, innovate new ideas to support coding concepts, and spread the primary role of coding in facilitating life, developing the world, and accelerating the world’s journey to the future, the organisers said.
