The results of this research also show that the first place is occupied by Italy with a participation of 32 per cent, followed by Croatia with 28 per cent, Germany with 17 per cent, Greece with 12 per cent and Spain with nine per cent, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

“The above is especially important if we know that Austria is among the top three most important markets for Croatian tourism, hence the positive data from the survey according to which 76 per cent of respondents plan to spend their annual vacation in Europe,” director of the CNTB Representative Office in Vienna Branimir Tončinić pointed out in this regard.

In addition, CNTB research shows that every second traveller is planning a vacation at sea this year, and for 40 per cent of respondents, summer vacations are also the main vacations of the year.

At the same time, every third of the respondents said that they plan a trip to the cities and emphasised the demand for wellness packages and active vacations.

Commenting on these data, the Croatian director of the national tourist board, Kristjan Staničić, said that the high demand for Croatia together with the high demand of Austrians for trips to Europe, show very good tourist results from this market this year.

According to him, nine out of ten respondents stated that they plan at least one trip this year, so the country expects the Austrian market to continue the positive trends from last year, when Croatia recorded about 8.2 million overnight stays, which has exceeded the result from the record year 2019 by five per cent.

Moreover, based on the survey data, 29 per cent of Austrians want to spend seven to 14 days on a trip in 2023, while 24 per cent of them want to spend two to three weeks on a trip. As for expenses, they amount to around €1700, which is around €150 more compared to last year’s survey.

During last October, Croatia also achieved very good results in terms of tourism, including the Austrian market, from which 1,426,514 arrivals and 7,769,322 overnight stays were achieved.

Such data also show that the success of the nights recorded during this period has been achieved since the visits recorded in 2022 are higher than those realised in the whole year 2019 when Austrians spent 7,762,916 nights in Croatia.
