This Amazing Spot Near Cancun Reopens For Tourism

The fishing community of Las Coloradas, located on the north coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, is very popular with tourists.

One of the most popular destinations for tourists from all over the world at the moment is the magnificent pink salt flats, a natural phenomenon.

There have been previous problems in the region between tour guides and employees of a salt company due to contract violations, which even led to protests and strikes at the tourism center as recently as March of this year.

Tensions eventually led to the suspension of tourist activities while both parties worked toward a mutual understanding. Tourists were disappointed, as they had been looking forward to experiencing the breathtaking natural landscape.

Now that the Las Coloradas tourist attraction appears to have resumed operations, the conflict between the two sides has reportedly been resolved.

Tour operators are back at work, and companies that were normally booked up during the summer months are now back in business and ready to serve travelers who want to see the natural splendor of the region.

“The activities have been successful, and the most important thing is that we have experienced a positive response from both the foreign and national and local tourists,” Óscar Correa Jiménez, head of Tourism Services at Parador stated.

What can one do in Las Colaradas and where is it located?

The area developed into a port for the export of salt and wood during the colonial period. The salt business continues to use the region as the most important natural resource in the Yucatan Peninsula and significantly boosts the local economy.

The surrounding area is a photographer’s paradise, with the pink sea providing a stunning backdrop for any traveler eager to capture the moment.

The most popular tourist activities in Las Coloradas are the boat excursions along the coast, which offer visitors a special perspective on the beauty of the region and where dolphins and sea turtles are often spotted.

Because of the birds’ attraction to aquatic invertebrates, pink flamingos are another animal that can be seen in the area.

Of course, if you prefer to stay on land, the stunning beaches are a paradise for sun worshippers. You can snorkel on the neighboring reefs or just lie in the warm sun.

The list of attractions in Las Coloradas is almost endless. Las Coloradas is also the ideal base for adventurous travelers who want to explore the neighboring colonial city of Valladolid or visit the impressive archeological zone of Ek Salam.

Since the dispute between the tour guides and the salt company was settled, the region can once again serve as a top tourist destination for those who want to experience the local history and natural beauty while avoiding the popular and crowded tourist spots.
